Saved Views: Opening the Grooming Schedule the Way You Actually Use It

Every person who builds a schedule ends up looking at it the same few ways. The owner always checks tomorrow by van. The office helper always checks today for anything skipped. If every one of those looks starts with setting the same filters by hand, that is wasted clicks every single day. Saved views fix that.

What a Saved View Is

Printing a van's day is covered in Printing Grooming Route Sheets for the Van. Saved views are about the screen, not the paper.

A saved view is a way of looking at the schedule that you set up once and open again with one click: which van, how it is filtered and how it is laid out. Instead of opening the full Scheduled list and narrowing it down every time, you open the view you want and the schedule is already in that shape.

Views That Suit a One-Van Owner

With one van, there is not much to filter, but a saved view still saves time. Useful ones include:

Views That Suit a Multi-Van Business

With two or more vans, saved views become the way the office moves through the day. A common set:

Running two vans is covered in detail in Two Vans, One Schedule: Dispatching Two Mobile Grooming Vans.

Views for Different People

In a business with office users, different people use the schedule for different jobs. The owner builds tomorrow. An office helper answers customers today. Someone else might handle the monthly accounts. With a few well-named views, each person can jump straight to the one that matches their own work instead of rebuilding filters before they can start.

PetGroomBossPro has office user roles, so the person answering phones does not need to see everything the owner sees. Saved views sit on top of that: the right person, looking at the right part of the schedule, in one click.

The Nightly Routine With Saved Views

Here is how saved views fit the day-before routine for a two-van business:

  1. Open Pending Jobs, go to the tomorrow tab, and confirm. One click keeps each visit's planned day, time and van.
  2. Check the No Day tab and place any new requests that fit.
  3. Open the “Van 1” view, auto-route it, move the fixed-time stops into place by hand, and check the times.
  4. Open the “Van 2” view and do the same.
  5. Print route sheets if the groomers use them.

Every step starts from a view that is already in the right shape, so the routine stays short even as the business grows.

Keep the List of Views Short

It is tempting to create a view for every possible question. Resist it. A long list of views is just as slow as setting filters by hand, because you have to find the right one. A good rule: if you have not opened a view in a couple of weeks, delete it. Keep the handful you use every day near the top.

When the business changes — a new van, a new account day, a new office helper — that is the moment to add or rename views. A view named for its job (“Van 2 — cats and puppies”) is easier to find than one named “view 3.”

Saved views are also useful when someone new starts in the office. Rather than explaining how to filter the schedule, show them the two or three views they will use every day and what each one is for. They can be answering customers and checking vans on their first afternoon, and the same views keep everyone in the office looking at the schedule the same way.

Same Schedule, Different Windows

Saved views do not change the schedule; they change how you look at it. Every view reads from the same appointments, so a stop moved in one view is moved everywhere: on the other views, on the groomer's phone, and in the customer's reminders. That is what makes it safe to give different people different views. For the full set of tools behind the schedule, see the mobile grooming scheduling software page.
