Cats in Mobile Pet Grooming Software: Cat Grooms, Lion Cuts and the Notes That Matter

A lot of grooming software is really dog software with a cat checkbox tacked on. Mobile groomers who take cats know that is not enough. A cat groom is its own kind of appointment, often at a home that also has dogs, and the notes that matter for a cat are different from the ones that matter for a doodle.

Monthly Accounts, Households and Cats

Big accounts were the topic of Monthly Accounts in Pet Grooming Software: Senior Living, Daycare and Apartment Pet Days. This guide goes back to households, and specifically to the ones with cats.

Cats Are a Pet Type, Not an Afterthought

In PetGroomBossPro, every pet on a visit is marked as a Dog or a Cat. A cat gets the same record as a dog: name, breed, size, coat, rabies due date and a notes line. When a groomer opens the card, they can see straight away that the second pet at this home is a long-haired cat, not another small dog.

The size list (Toy, Small, Medium, Large, Giant) and the coat list (Short / Smooth, Medium, Long, Double Coat, Curly / Doodle, Wire, Hairless) apply to cats as well. A long-coated cat and a hairless one are very different appointments, and the coat on the record says which one is waiting.

Cat Services on Your List

You set up your own services, so cat work goes on the list the way you sell it. Common ones for mobile groomers include a cat groom, a bath and brush, a lion cut and a nail trim. Price them as you see fit, for example $95 for a cat groom, and they show on the booking page, on estimates and on invoices like any other service.

Add-ons work the same way. If you offer de-shedding or de-matting for cats, they can be ticked on the job and land on the invoice.

The Notes That Matter

For cats, the notes line often carries more weight than the cut itself. Owners and groomers tend to write about handling and preferences:

• “Lion cut, leave the boots and the tail tip.”
• “Muzzle for nails.”
• “Hides under the bed, owner will have him in the carrier.”
• “Do the cat first, before the dogs get worked up.”

These notes carry forward to the next visit with the rest of the pet record. A groomer who has never met this cat reads them on the card before the van door opens. This is software, not handling advice: how you work with cats is your own skill and your own policy. The record just makes sure the next groomer knows what the last one learned.

Dogs and Cats at the Same Home

Many households have both. A visit holds up to four pets, so two dogs and a cat fit on one appointment with one address, one set of van notes and one invoice. Each pet has its own checklist on the groomer app, so the cat's bath and brush is recorded separately from the dogs' full grooms.

The order of the pets on the visit is worth thinking about too. If the note says to do the cat first, that is the first thing the groomer sees.

Booking Cats Online

The Book Now page lets customers enter each pet's name, breed and size, so a cat owner can request a cat groom or a lion cut and see the price. As with dogs, it is a request: it lands in Leads, and the office confirms a time. The booking page is covered in Online Booking Priced by Pet Size: The Book Now Page for Mobile Groomers.

Repeat Cat Appointments

Cat owners who like a regular schedule can be booked on a repeat series like anyone else: same weekday, time and van at whatever frequency you and the owner agree. The next visit fills in from the last, so the cat's notes and the lion cut instructions are there every time.

Why It Matters to Get Cats Right

Some cat owners have a hard time finding a groomer who takes cats at all, and a mobile groomer who does can build a loyal group of cat clients. Keeping the cat's details as carefully as the dogs' is part of that. It tells the owner, every visit, that their cat is not an afterthought. For a full cat-focused look, the site has a separate section on cat grooming software. For the rest of this series, go back to the pet grooming software page.
