Cats on the Booking Page: Letting Customers Book Cat Grooms and Lion Cuts Online
Cat owners often have a harder time finding a groomer than dog owners do. Plenty of groomers do not take cats at all, and cat owners tend to be happy to hear about a mobile groomer who comes to the house. If you groom cats, putting them on your booking page tells those customers right away that you are an option.
Cats Have Their Own Services
Repeat schedules for dogs were covered in Turning a First Online Booking Into a Repeat Grooming Client. Cats work the same way on the schedule, but they usually need their own services on the booking page.
In PetGroomBossPro, services are yours to set up. For cats, common ones include:
- Cat groom. Bath, dry and tidy, at a base price such as $95.
- Lion cut. A popular request, often priced above a standard cat groom.
- Cat bath & brush. For customers who want a lighter service.
- Cat nail trim. A small service where your minimum matters.
Name them clearly so a cat owner scrolling the service list sees immediately that cats are welcome.
Pricing Cats
Each service has its own base price, and the size add-on is applied per pet. For cats, size often matters less than for dogs. A large Maine Coon and a small domestic shorthair are different jobs, but the range is narrower than Chihuahua to Great Dane.
Since size add-ons apply across services, a common approach is to build the size difference for cats into the cat service base price and let Small and Medium add little or nothing. Customers will usually pick Small or Medium for most cats anyway. If a Large cat comes in, the size add-on still applies.
Your minimum also applies to cat bookings, so a cat nail trim on its own still meets your floor.
The Note Under the Price, for Cats
Cats can be unpredictable on the table, and coat condition varies a lot, especially for long-haired breeds. The note under the price applies to every booking, so wording it to cover both cats and dogs is worth a moment. Something like “Heavy matting or extra handling time may cost extra. Final price confirmed at the appointment” works for both.
Do not use the booking page to give advice about whether a particular cat can be groomed. That is a conversation for the confirmation call, and a question about the cat's health is a question for the customer's vet.
Dogs and Cats in the Same House
A lot of homes have both. When a request comes in for a dog groom and the customer mentions a cat, you have a few options. You can book both pets on one visit, since a job can hold up to four pets, each marked Dog or Cat. Or you can quote the cat separately with an estimate from your service list if it needs a different service than the dog.
Multi-pet pricing is covered in Multi-Pet Grooming Bookings: Pricing Two, Three or Four Pets at One Home.
Cat Notes on the Job
Once the customer is booked, each cat lives on the job with its name, breed, size, coat (Short / Smooth, Medium, Long, Double Coat and so on), rabies due date and a notes line. For cats, that notes line does a lot of work: the cut (“lion cut, leave boots and tail tip”), the behavior (“hides under the bed, owner will have her in a carrier”) and anything the groomer should know.
Add-ons for cats are ticked on the job like any other. The next visit fills in from the last one, so the lion cut details are already there in a few months.
The groomer app shows each pet with breed, size, coat and cut notes on the appointment card, and the grooming checklist runs per pet, with a note for the customer that ends up on the Grooming Report.
Cat Schedules
Cats are often on longer schedules than dogs, or booked a few times a year. Add Recurring Grooming covers every week through every 8 weeks, monthly and custom days, so you can set a cat on whatever interval you and the owner agree. Every visit waits on Pending Jobs with its planned day, time and van until you confirm it.
If the cat and dog are on different schedules, the dog's visit and the cat's visit can be separate jobs at the same address.
Say It on Your Website
The booking page shows your cat services, but customers often decide whether to click based on your website. A short line near the Book Now button such as “We groom cats too, including lion cuts” gets cat owners to the page.
There is a whole section of this site on cat work. For booking and quoting tools in general, see the pet grooming booking software page.
