Two-Way Texting With Cat Owners From the Office
Cat owners text. They text to ask if the groomer can come later, to say the cat got out, to ask whether the lion cut can be a little longer this time, and to send a thank-you afterward. If those texts land on a groomer's personal phone, they get answered between stops, or not at all.
PetGroomBossPro puts that conversation in the office.
Where the Replies Go
In Texts to Cat Owners: Night-Before, On-the-Way and Arrived Alerts, the automatic alerts did the reminding. When an owner replies to one of those, or texts you on their own, the message comes into the office through two-way texting.
The office can read and answer every text from the office, with the client's record right there. Nobody has to forward screenshots from a groomer's phone, and the history stays with the client when staff change.
Common Cat Conversations
Most texts with cat owners fall into a few kinds. Here is how the office handles each one.
- “Can you come later?” The office checks the schedule, moves the visit if it can, and texts back the new time.
- “She got out and we can't find her.” The office tells the groomer, and the groomer can Skip the stop with a note so the office books it again.
- “Can you leave the mane longer?” The office updates the cat's notes line so the request carries forward.
- “Do you do cats?” The office sends the Book Now link, so the owner can pick a cat service and see a price.
- “Thank you!” A quick reply, and maybe a reminder that they can rate and refer you in the customer app.
Confirming New Cat Clients
Two-way texting is usually the fastest way to turn a booking request into a first appointment. When a cat request lands in Leads, the office can text the owner with a real time slot: “Hi, thanks for booking! We can do Tuesday at 10:30 for Mochi. Does that work?”
It is also a good time to ask the questions that help with a new cat: how the cat does with handling, whether the coat has mats, whether there are other pets in the home. The answers go into the pet's notes when the office books the visit. See Cat Booking Requests in Leads: From the Book Now Form to a Confirmed Time.
Notes From the Visit
Most visit notes go on the checklist and the Grooming Report. But some things should not wait for a printed report. If the groomer mentions something the owner should hear today, the office can text it: “Quick note from Mochi's visit: matting behind the ears is coming back. Happy to talk about it next time.”
Keep these texts factual. If something seems off with the cat's health, the right text says what the groomer noticed and suggests the owner check with their vet. It does not guess.
Before-the-Visit Texts for Cats
Some cats need a little setup from the owner, and the behavior notes say so: “Owner to have her in the carrier before we arrive.” For those cats, a personal text the afternoon before, on top of the automatic reminder, can make the visit go much better. A simple version: “See you tomorrow at 10:30! If you can have Luna in her carrier before we arrive, that helps a lot.”
The office sees the behavior note when it confirms tomorrow's visits on Pending Jobs, which makes it a natural time to send these.
What Two-Way Texting Is Not
To be clear about the edges: texting in PetGroomBossPro is for conversations with your clients and for appointment reminders and alerts. It is not a tool for marketing blasts to your whole list. Texts sent and received come out of your plan's monthly allowance: 500, 1,000 or 2,000 on Start, Pro and Crew, in the US and Canada.
Keeping the Tone Consistent
When several people in the office answer texts, owners should not be able to tell who is on shift. Agree on a few basics: sign off with the business name, use the cat's name, confirm times in full (“Tuesday the 14th at 10:30”) and answer within the same day. Because every conversation stays attached to the client, anyone can scroll back and see what was already said before replying.
One Conversation, in One Place
When every cat owner's texts come to the office and stay with the client, nothing gets lost on a groomer's phone, and any office person can pick up the conversation. For the rest of how cats work in PetGroomBossPro, see the cat grooming software page.
