Apartment Community Grooming Days for a Mobile Grooming Business
Plenty of apartment communities welcome pets and look for small perks that keep residents happy. A regular grooming day in the parking lot is one of those perks. Residents get a groom without driving anywhere, the property manager gets something to put in the monthly newsletter, and the mobile groomer gets a full day of appointments at a single address, often with residents booking again and again.
How It Differs From Other Monthly Accounts
Daycare bath days were covered in Doggy Daycare Bath Days: Running a Monthly Account in a Mobile Grooming Business. Apartment communities are a little different again. The property usually arranges the day, but the residents are the customers, each with their own pet, their own service and often their own card.
That means you are really running a lot of small home visits, all at one address. The organization looks more like your normal residential work than a daycare list.
Pitch the Property Manager
Start with the property manager. Keep the offer simple: you bring the van on a set day, residents book a time, and the property only needs to provide a parking spot and help you spread the word. Offer to supply a short flyer or a post for the residents' portal or newsletter with your Book Now link.
Ask how they want it to work. Some properties pay for part of the day as a resident perk and get one statement a month for it. Most simply let residents book and pay for themselves. Agree on this before the first day.
Let Residents Book With the Link
Your Book Now link is the easiest way for residents to sign up. They pick a service, how many pets, each pet's name, breed and size, how often, add-ons, and a preferred day and time of day, and they see their price. Each booking lands in Leads with everything they picked, and you get an email. The office then confirms each resident's time and books them.
Ask residents to include their building and unit number with their address, so the groomer knows where to pick up and return each pet. You can also use a website request form or sign-up form, which flow into Form Responses. A sign-up captures the card, and one click turns it into a client. The booking link is covered in The Book Now Link: Putting Your Mobile Grooming Business on Google and Social Bios.
Schedule the Day in Order
An apartment grooming day works best with set times for each resident, back to back. Appointment times show on every card in the groomer app, and the groomer sees the day in order. The arrived text tells each resident the van is outside, and the customer app's live map shows where they are in line.
Residents who like it will want to come back. Put each one on a repeat schedule with Add Recurring Grooming, on the same weekday and time every 4, 6 or 8 weeks. If your apartment day is monthly, residents on a monthly schedule fit neatly into it. Each visit waits on Pending Jobs with its planned day, time and van until the office confirms it.
Van Notes for a Big Property
Large apartment communities can be confusing. Add van notes on the property address: which parking area to use, the gate code, where the leasing office is, where an outlet or water hookup is if the property provides one, and who to contact if there is a problem. Every groomer who works the day sees those notes.
On each resident's pet, the notes line can include pick-up details: “Building C, unit 312, second floor, text on arrival.” That keeps the day moving and saves wandering hallways.
Payment for Each Resident
When residents pay for themselves, each one should have a card on file. When the groomer taps Complete, the invoice is created and the card can be charged. Residents can also see their invoice and pay from the customer app, and leave a tip on a paid invoice.
If the property pays for part of the day, such as a free nail trim for every resident, set the property up as its own client with billing set to Monthly. It gets one statement each month covering those visits, while residents pay for anything extra. The billing side is covered in Getting Paid on Completion in a Mobile Grooming Business.
Grow One Property at a Time
One apartment community that goes well often leads to another, especially when the same management company runs several properties. Do a great job, keep the day on time, leave residents a Grooming Report from the checklist, and ask the property manager for a referral to their colleagues.
Over time, a handful of apartment days can become a steady part of your calendar alongside your regular home visits. To see how booking, repeat appointments and payments work across all of them, visit the mobile grooming business software page.
